photo of performing ensemble Forecast Music presented its first concert on January 22nd 2002, at their first home, the South Oxford Art Space in Fort Greene, Brooklyn. Over the last four seasons they have produced eighteen concerts at locations in New York City ranging from traditional concert spaces, such as the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music, to alternative venues including Manhattan's The Knitting Factory and Brooklyn's Galapagos Art Space.

Forecast Music has performed the works of many contemporary composers to date, from purely acoustic chamber music to electronic media compositions to creative collaborations with artists in other disciplines, including numerous world premieres. Highlights include: Mosheh the video-opera of Yoav Gal, featuring visuals by Heather Green; composer Gal Ziv's collaborative work Imprints, which included choreography by dancers Arielle Javitch and Takemi Kitamura; flutist/composer Robert Dick's everyone@universe.existence for flute and electronics; and the premiere of Randy Woolf's string quartet, Franz Schubert.

Many dedicated professional performers and groups of contemporary music have participated in Forecast Music concerts over the years. They include: the Sirius String Quartet, The Timetable Percussion Trio, The Ensemble Pamplemousse, Oren and Laurance Fader, Kevin Gallagher, Debbie Buck, and Christine Perea.

photo of performers Forecast Music looks to the future with an ever-expanding artistic and organizational mission. The 2005-2006 Season will see the debut of our ensemble-in-residence, the Reizen Ensemble, at The Great Room at the Alliance of Resident Theaters, Brooklyn, NY with guest composers Eric Lyon and Ian Moss. A concert of acoustic/electronic chamber music with flute, alto flute, and bass flute, the results or out first national call for scores, featuring composers Daniel Asia, Zack Browning, Jason Eckardt, Daniel Kessner, and Peter Lieuwen will take place at Christ & St. Stephens Church in Manhattan in December. This will be followed by a concert of new music for voice with the Reizen Ensemble in April, featuring composer and 2001 Pulitzer Prize winner Lewis Spratlan. The season will come to a close with our annual spring show at the Knitting Factory.
